Exploring creative expression is for everyone. Whether you are interested in exploring different art mediums for yourself, taking a workshop to expand your knowledge, want to know more about the art world, or are a seasoned veteran willing to go further in your creative journey, you can join others and take your interest to the next level. OR maybe as a local business, you would like to partner with the VFAA and reflect your support of the arts in the Huron Valley area of Milford and the neighboring areas.
VFAA members include potters, weavers, oil painters, watercolorists, pastelists, acrylic painters, carvers, poets, musicians, photographers, sculptors, fabric artists the list is endless and varied.
A Brief History - The Village Fine Arts Association began in 1992, with the knowledge that there was a great need for the numerous artists in the Greater Milford Area to have an outlet to explore, expand and share their love of art. |
General Meetings - see The Artisan newsletter.
Held each month, January through October, on the fourth Wednesday of the month.
Meetings are located at the Milford Presbyterian Church, 238 N. Main Street in Downtown Milford. Meeting time is 7:30 p.m. Map
During each meeting, after regular business is done, there is a special Guest Speaker who gives a presentation, does a demonstration, or discusses topics related to the arts. We have had stained glass artists, weavers, noted local painters, sculptors, illustrators, and even museum curators address our membership. Guests and visitors are welcome. General Meetings are always open to the public. If you have an idea for a presenter, please contact us.
Artist of the Year
Members are encouraged to bring up to two finished pieces to each General Meeting. Our Guest Speakers become jurors, and pick their favorites, and points are awarded for first, second and third place. At the end of the year, awards are presented to the top three point-earners. But beware! Points are also awarded for merely bringing in your art to share! Just bringing in two pieces each month might earn enough points for an award.
Annual Exhibits - Juried each year by various southwest Michigan established artists, teachers and scholars. Includes young artist's awards. If you would like to sponsor an award, contact Susan Gollon. Poetry Art Night Coffee House and Exhibition - weaves poetry and art together, so words express what the artist cannot, and art expresses what words are unable. In other words, all artwork is submitted to PAN with poetry to complement the art (or art complementing the poetry). Original poems written expressly for artwork entered into PAN are entered into the Poetry Competition. It is a natural partnership the VFAA has celebrated for over 15 years. | |

The Village Fine Arts Association began in 1992, with the knowledge that there was a great need for the numerous artists in the Greater Milford Area to have an outlet to explore, expand and share their love of art.
What began as an assortment of different artists, getting together in coffee shops or in each others homes, today has grown into thriving and active group of over 100 artists, with a mailing list of over 425 other art-minded people in the Huron Valley area. VFAA is characterized as stimulating and welcoming.
